Contest Guidelines

• The Art Contest is open to students in 3rd Grade-High School 

• The contest deadline is MARCH 15th at 5:00 PM

• Only 3 contest winners will be chosen per school

• High School (Grades 9-12) and Middle School (Grades 6-8) Students will receive the following amounts in Gift Card prizes: 

  • • First Place will receive a $50 Gift Card

    • Second Place will receive a $35 gift card 

    • Third Place will receive a $25 gift card 

• Student's in grades 3rd-5th will receive the following amounts in Gift Card prizes: 

  • • First Place will receive a $30 Gift Card

    • Second Place will receive a $20 gift card 

    • Third Place will receive a $10 gift card 

• All selected contest winners will have the opportunity to have their work hung at various locations around the city of Durango (More details to come later. If you have questions, feel free to contact us)

• All winners will additionally be able to participate in the Cowboy Gathering Parade in October of 2025

Contest Prompt: 

Create a painting or drawing that represents what you have learned in school or already know about Colorado’s ranching, farming or western history. Once completed, please write a short (3-4 sentence) description and explanation of how your work represents your learning.

In order to qualify for the contest, please make sure to upload either a picture of your handwritten description or a text document that includes your artwork description. Please give the physical copy of your artwork to your teacher (it will be delivered to us to be scored).
