Contest Guidelines

• The Poetry Contest is open to students in 4th Grade-High School 

• The contest deadline is MARCH 15th at 5:00 PM

• Only 3 contest winners will be chosen per school

• High School (Grades 9-12) and Middle School (Grades 6-8) Students will receive the following amounts in Gift Card prizes: 

  • • First Place will receive a $50 Gift Card

    • Second Place will receive a $35 gift card 

    • Third Place will receive a $25 gift card 

• Student's in grades 4th-5th will receive the following amounts in Gift Card prizes: 

  • • First Place will receive a $30 Gift Card

    • Second Place will receive a $20 gift card 

    • Third Place will receive a $10 gift card 

• All winners (first, second and third) will be able to perform their work at the Cowboy Gathering in October of 2025. Winners will be contacted prior to the Gathering. 

• All winners will also be able to participate in the Cowboy Gathering Parade in October of 2025

Contest Prompt: 

Write a poem that reflects what you have learned in school or already know about Colorado’s ranching, farming or western history.
